Abstract

This paper is a review of solid-state imagers, with special relevance to X-ray imaging schemes. The operation and performance of the two basic forms of silicon imager - the photo-diode array an the charge-coupled device - are discussed; together with possible X-ray imaging topologies. Finally, mention is made of the application of some of these devices to X-ray detection and imaging at the Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS) at the Science Research Daresbury Laboratory.
