Abstract
This article revisits Kenneth Clark’s distinction between nudity and nakedness, and provides an alternative understanding perceiving the former as a performative event of the latter. It analyzes the spectatorship difficulties in accepting the naked human body for it externalizes what it is supposed to be hiding within its membrane: the otherness, the sameness; our biggest fear.
