Abstract

Publication of The Labour of Art Symposium held at the
University of Lincoln, 2005.
Invariably when a writer is interviewed on radio, television or in a newspaper the topic of their working methods will be addressed, i.e. where (the site) the writer does his writing (the art), how long does she/he write for, how many words do they write. It seems that these minutiae are deemed to be of significance to the reader, the listener and the viewer (the audience).
In this text I will be looking at the site, the art and the audience, within the context of my own art practice and in particular 'Field of Activity: a continuation' as a way to address this notion The Labour of Art.
