Abstract
Catastrophe in space is a key trope of Anthropocene culture, as in the 2013 film, 'Gravity'. This paper argues that to be catastrophically brought back to earth is a fall, a plunge, which can provoke an upsurge of a profound worldly sensibility, potentially an environmental agency which promises a crucial role for affective politics. The medial catastrophe constitutes a practical dismantling/deconstruction of Promethean Man.
