Abstract
The first part of this article provides an overview of the civil wars in Lincoln and explains how and why the City changed hands so many times during the conflict. The second part will then assess the impact of the wars on the city. The conflict left its impression on more than just the fabric of the buildings. Like most people living in England at this time, the inhabitants of Lincoln saw significant changes to the world around them, experiencing political, social and religious upheaval.
