Abstract

Surf culture can be a rich source of inspiration, offering a range of visual, cultural, and historical elements to explore.
The project draws from the vibrant, sun-soaked, and laid-back aesthetic of surf culture, which often features bold and bright colours, unique typography, and graphic patterns inspired by the ocean and beach life. For example, they can create posters, brochures, and other marketing materials that capture the energy and excitement of surf culture, using playful imagery, hand-drawn illustrations, and vibrant graphics to convey a sense of adventure and freedom.
In addition to visual elements, surf culture also has a rich history and cultural significance, which I use as a basis for work. For example, I explore the cultural significance of surfboard shapes, the history of surfwear brands, or the impact of surf culture on fashion, music, and art.
Surf culture provides a rich source of inspiration, offering a range of visual, cultural, and historical elements to explore, and a range of creative opportunities. The More Streams of Consciousness project has developed into a set of 4 books filled full of creative explorations.
