Abstract
The Higher Education (HE) sector faces many interwoven EDI challenges linked to access, opportunity, attainment and belonging. It is important that all students are given equitable opportunity to thrive at university. To make this happen university structures, processes, spaces and people must be cognisant of, and empowered to, make positive change.
This poster provides information about a pilot that was run in 2021/22 seeking to embed EDI at the heart of the University’s programme revalidation and validation process. This pilot, implemented by the Eleanor Glanville Institute, required colleagues from across the University to complete an EDI Re/Validation Exercise. This Exercise was created specifically for this pilot along with an accompanying EDI Re/Validation Guide. Colleagues connected with the pilot in a multiple of ways: for Programme Leaders undergoing re/validations, as part of Periodic Annual Review, as a holistic School activity and as a reflective exercise.
Colleagues involved in the pilot were asked to re/consider, reflect upon and challenge issues relating to EDI. The Exercise was broken down into seven areas: recruitment, design, curriculum and content, teaching and learning, assessment and feedback, extra-curricular offerings and lastly employability. This poster will contextualise, review and reflect on this pilot.
