Abstract
Natsumi's Song of Summer is a story about a young girl sharing her love of insects with her cousin, who is visiting from America. It is written as a waka poem, a 1300 year-old form that uses linked tanka to tell a story (the more commonly known haiku is derived from tanka poetry). It features illustrations by the Japanese-American artist, Misa Saburi.
