Abstract
Sakura's Cherry Blossoms is a book about a young girl's move to America, where she has difficulty fitting in and deals with separation from her extended family. It is written as a waka poem, a 1300 year-old form that uses linked tanka to tell a story (the more commonly known haiku is derived from tanka poetry). It features illustrations by the Japanese-American artist, Misa Saburi.
