Abstract
Global climate change (CC) is threatening archaeological sites and cultural landscapes and the development of adaptation policies are vital. The published literature to date is largely focussed on Europe and N. America. To address the imbalance this article reports on policy and adaptation actions for cultural sites in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC). The article combines a survey of ICOMOS national committees, a review of LDC National Adaptation Plans and five global case studies. The results highlight barriers experienced in LMIC countries and the varied approaches being taken to adapt to CC at diverse sites across four continents.
