Abstract

We use experimental economics as a methodological tool to look at a real-life problem. This novel approach is based on behavioural economics and examines the attitudes of university students using a public choice game. Recycling is a problem which most countries are grappling with and changing behaviour has been the aim of nudge economists. Allowing us to use an experimental tool rather than more traditional surveys, we find nudges work best.
