Abstract
This chapter examines changes in the Conservative Party's leadership and approaches to social policy while in opposition from 1997 to 2010, including the impact of David Cameron as leader. It then considers the Party's policies at the 2010 general election and in the creation of the coalition government with the Liberal Democrats before providing an assessment of the Coalition's social policies.
