Though universities are required to actively promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, and the University of Lincoln has many support mechanisms already in place to support these students, these mechanisms may not lead to equal opportunities in all cases. This talk will discuss a recent project carried out at the Lincoln by Dr Susan Chipchase and two student researchers, to explore the experiences of undergraduate students with chronic illness and disability. In particular, the talk will focus on the main barriers which were identified through the project, and possibilities for the next steps to take to improve the university experience for students at Lincoln.
