Abstract
Son of Megabazus, governor (hyparchos) or satrap of Dascyleium in northwestern Asia Minor. Herodotus mentions Oebares once, in his account of the end of the Ionian Revolt (493 B.C.E.): Cyzicus escaped attack by the Persians because it had already pledged submission to the King, making a treaty with Oebares (6.33.3).
