Abstract
Son-in-law of Darius I and Persian commander during the Ionian Revolt (499-493 B.C.E.), otherwise unknown. Hymaees and two colleagues attacked the Ionians who had burned Sardis and later captured Greek cities in northwestern Asia Minor, before dying of illness at Ilium (5.116, 122).
