Abstract
Son-in-law of Darius I (5.116), Persian commander during the Ionian Revolt (499-493 B.C.E.). Daurises is only mentioned by Herodotus. He helped defeat the Ionians who had burned Sardis; later, he subdued Greek cities in the Hellespont region, before putting down a rebellion in Caria, where he was killed in an ambush (5.116-21).
