Abstract

Lincoln Conservation was commissioned to undertake Architectural Paint Research (APR) of the clock face and surrounding areas of the Elizabeth Tower, Palace of Westminster. The aim of the research was to record the paint archaeology prior to removal of existing finishes prior to repair and redecoration, and to establish the original decorative scheme of the clock face, outer clock face, pilasters and upper shields designed by Charles Barry c1856.
