Abstract
This article forms a short afterword to this issue of 19. It reflects on women’s ‘invisibility’ and on the processes of disciplinary formation which contributed to this, as well as the ways in which collections were and were not gendered. It reflects on methodologies and approaches to best understand the totality of collectors and collecting practices in the period.
