Abstract
Team coaching is a way of shifting the dynamics of the traditional classroom and unlock creativity and innovation by developing the three pillars of learning: individual, team and community learning. Our pedagogy should be adapted to current climate and tomorrow’s graduates especially as TEF ratings are key to reputation,
The research conducted on TOU9166M Personal Professional Development module encompasses a holistic approach to developing learners’ capabilities by considering what the ‘new kind’ of graduate needs. The module aims at creating a heutagogical learning environment where students take ownership of their learning and careers by mainly addressing:
1. New insights into teaching, learning and research;
2. Individual needs in a team setting and thus, improving student attainment;
3. Students equipped for high levels of uncertainty and a fast-changing environment;
The module is designed around the Team Academy principles and aims at fostering a postgraduate community where flexibility, creativity and innovation are key. The presentation shares my experience in designing and coaching students through the module and their degree for the past year. The coach role/ my role being to facilitate student’s abilities to self-manage and take responsibility of their own learning and development. The coaches provide advice in a non-directive manner in a shared environment where learners are participants in the process.
