Abstract

Light up the darkness is an artists’ book / parazine that presents a typographic poem of soundbites from a disparate group of storytellers, musicians, fictional TV characters and everyday life in an attempt to uncover profound, absurd and comical questions about our existence and its history.

Additional Information:In 2010 GRRR’s artists’ book / parazine Light up the darkness was selected for inclusion and constructed for an exhibition at the Anti Design Festival (18 - 26 September 2010) held at the Londonewcastle Project Space on Redchurch Street, London and curated by Tim Holloway, Luke Thompson and Andy Chen. The Anti Design Festival attempts to unlock creative fires and ideas, exploring spaces hitherto deemed out-of-bounds by a purely commercial criteria. Created initially as a direct response to the pretty commerciality of the London Design Festival, the ADF will shift the focus from bums-on-seats to brain food, and from taste and style to experiment and risk. The festival will provide a rare space for unhindered exploration and creative opportunity, where ideas may fail as equally as succeed.
