Abstract

The study focuses on the collection, compilation and analysis of data, indicators and qualitative information on the implementation of each of the 6 European Research Area priorities:
▪ More effective national research systems;
▪ Optimal transnational cooperation and competition;
▪ Open labour market for researchers;
▪ Gender equality and gender mainstreaming in research;
▪ Optimal circulation, access and transfer of scientific knowledge;
▪ International dimension outside ERA.
This information and subsequent analysis shall form the basis of the ERA Progress Report "Facts and Figures" 2018. The study covers all 28 EU Member States and the Horizon 2020 Associated Countries. The study will require analysis at the national level, EU level, and at the level of research organisations (both performing and funding research). Analysis will involve: quantitative analysis (24 predefined indicators), bibliometric, extensive desk research and 120 interviews with EU-level stakeholders, research funding organisations and research performing organisations.
