Abstract
As part of a roundtable discussion, Martin Scheuregger presents a case for analyses that embrace approaches and understanding not apparent from the biographical details of a composer and their work, as well as considering the place of the composer's voice in the study of their music. If a composer identifies their work as belonging to one school, for example, can we usefully apply the context of another?
