Abstract
It’s Friday night and Shannon wants to forget the rubbish she calls life. She finds a place without rules, without expectations and without consequences. She unites with other lost young people who discover a new sense of purpose, led by a man heralded 'the new Messiah'. But when you're a 23 year old single mum of three, fed up with the world and let off the leash, how far is too far?
Part performance, part gig and a blood-pumping night out, this unique event by Middle Child Theatre is a modern take on the traditions of cabaret shows, complete with a live band and MC. Uncovering the violent potential inside all of us, the show looks at how life has changed for young people since the 90s and asks – is it rubbish to be alive today?
Modern Life Is Rubbish unlocks a generation of young people betrayed by society, by each other and by ourselves.
