Abstract
A multimedia trans-disciplinary project by Roberto David Rusconi, Tju-La-Net , Almeida Participation, Director Michael Bryher, and Writer Laura Turner.
The absence of significant rituals in our lives has left us feeling disconnected, confused, alone and bereft. Insulated and isolated in extremely intense times, we dangle, stranded in an enormously complex universe without a safety net to save us. Incanti (Enchantments) is a new immersive participatory creation featuring creative arts practitioners, dancers with surround sound projection, image processing, storytelling and a full immersive perceptive experience.
Presented for three days the show invited a diversified audience unified by their interest in a more ritualistic and participative idea art’s making today, seated in a circle on carpets, pillows and chairs, facing canvas and textiles.
The show pioneered the intertwining of digital sound, visual techniques, voice and performance art, with a unique blend of oral storytelling and more traditional art making (canvas, objects and sound sculptures).
Commissioned by the Almeida Theatre Participation Department.
