Abstract
In this paper I will begin to discuss, against a background of philosophy, why our vocabulary for praise, in particular for the achievements of actors in theatre and singers in opera, tends to be vague, unspecific and rather limited. On that basis, further work can be undertaken to expand the vocabulary.
