Abstract
This chapter suggests a potential framework for research in children's media and media use in the Asia-Pacific region. It does so by emphasising the need to recognise regional particularities of children's media lives. In this scenario, an exploration of modernity, and anti-modernities, is proffered in order to signal the problems inherent in accurately capturing the historical contexts in which media use occurs.
