Abstract

This piece is a poetic representation of the ice formation Diamond Dust. Its light, ponderous beginning utilises the guitar’s delicate timbral qualities, while the second, more aggressive section, gives rise to a more percussive texture, depicting the full gamut of qualities that constitutes this elusive state of ice.

States of Ice Diamond Dust was commissioned by the International Guitar Foundation (IGF) for their 2011 festival. It is published by Edition HH.
