Il Colorificio inaugura il suo spazio venerdì 16 dicembre 2016 con “Failing Forward”, mostra del collettivo artistico IOCOSE – composto da Matteo Cremonesi, Filippo Cuttica, Davide Prati e Paolo Ruffino. ­­­­­­­­­­Da lungo tempo il collettivo artistico indaga la componente fallimentare all’interno del panorama contemporaneo, focalizzandosi particolarmente sulle aporie e contraddizioni dell’universo digitale. I lavori di IOCOSE, con sfrontata ironia, restituiscono le lacune del progresso evidenziando come la continua proiezione in avanti porti a un collasso del presente. Da qui il titolo “Failing Forward”, una condizione fallimentare inevitabile, reiterata nel futuro, immediato o prossimo che sia.

Due sono le opere esposte, First Viewer Television (FVTV) (2012) e Moving Forward (2016 - in corso), completate dalla settima edizione del NoTube Contest.

First Viewer Television consiste in uno schermo televisivo posizionato su una distesa di pop-corn su cui girano video mai stati visionati, prelevati da YouTube – la più grande e nota piattaforma web di video-sharing. Il visitatore è reso così il primo fruitore di video già presenti sulla piattaforma digitale o appena caricati, facendosi carico di un’azione iniziatica – quasi sacrale – che pone l’attenzione sui paria della rete, falliti in base alla logica imperante delle visualizzazioni su YouTube.

La serie di video Moving Forward si compone di brevi clip di 6 secondi in cui è ripreso un dito muovere in avanti oggetti di varia natura. Oggetto dopo oggetto, il collettivo prova a spingere il mondo in avanti, modificando le coordinate spazio-temporali di singoli frammenti e tentando invano di velocizzare la febbrile corsa verso il futuro promesso dalla tecnologia.

A collegare i due lavori si situa la premiazione del NoTube Contest 2016, concorso attivo dal 2009 e pensato da IOCOSE come una ricognizione dell’archivio online. Durante la serata d’inaugurazione il pubblico è stato invitato ad assistere alla premiazione del NoTube Contest 2016, concorso attivo dal 2009 e pensato da IOCOSE come una ricognizione dell’archivio online. Tutti gli utenti hanno avuto la possibilità di proporre video “falliti” di YouTube, nella ricerca del video “più inutile” dell’anno. Icriteri a cui devono rispondere i video sono tre: nessuna ragione per essere realizzati, nessuna ragione per essere pubblicati, nessuna ragione per essere guardati.

The Colorificio inaugurates its space Friday, December 16, 2016 with "Failing Forward", an exhibition of the IOCOSE collective - composed by Matteo Cremonesi, Filippo Cuttica, Davide Prati and Paolo Ruffino. For a long time the artistic collective investigates the bankruptcy component within the contemporary landscape, focusing in particular on the apologies and contradictions of the digital universe. IOCOSE's works, with bland irony, return the gaps of progress by highlighting how continuous forwarding leads to a collapse of the present. Hence the title "Failing Forward", an inevitable bankruptcy condition, reiterated in the future, immediate or close to it.

There are two exhibited works, First Viewer Television (FVTV) (2012) and Moving Forward (2016 - ongoing), completed by the seventh edition of the NoTube Contest.

First Viewer Television is a television screen positioned on a pop-corn expanse on which videos that have ever been viewed are taken from YouTube - the largest and most popular video-sharing web platform. The visitor thus becomes the first viewer of videos present on the digital platform or just uploaded, taking charge of quasi-sacral initiation - which pays attention to the network less relevant material, that does not conform with the imperative logic of YouTube views.

The Moving Forward video series is made up of short 6-second clips in which an index finger is taken to move objects of various nature forward. Object after object, the collective tries to push the world forward by modifying the space-time coordinates of individual fragments and attempting (in vain) to speed up the feverish ride to the future promised by technology.

Connecting the two works is the award of the NoTube Contest 2016, an active contest since 2009 and thought by IOCOSE as an appreciation of the online archive. During the inauguration night, the audience was invited to attend the award ceremony of the NoTube Contest 2016. Users have been invited to search for the most "valueless" videos on YouTube, and submit these to the contest. The criteria to evaluate the NoTube videos are three: there should be no evident reason for the video to be realised, no reason to be published, no reason to be watched.
