Abstract
Background: Health-promoting activities and behaviours are major strategies to facilitate and preserve health. In cancer survivors, behaviours such as healthy eating and physical activity have the potential to enhance well-being following diagnosis and treatment.
Aims: The purpose of the study is to: (a) describe the health-promoting behaviours in a sample of people living with and beyond cancer, and (b) determine the extent to which demographics, perceived health status and residence (rural or urban) influences health-promoting behaviours.
Method: A cross-sectional study using a sample of people living with and beyond cancer recruited through two patient databases in the East Midlands of England. Participants will be sent a self-completion postal questionnaire using the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP-II; Walker, Sechrist and Pender, 1995). It is a 52-item questionnaire that includes subscales in relation to health responsibility, physical activity and nutritional habits.
Results: Findings will be available late summer 2017.
