Abstract

Despite significant advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment, cancer is still one of the highest causes of death worldwide (Cancer Research UK, 2015).

A growing body of evidence suggests physical activity (PA) can reduce the risk of death, reduce pain and improve physical function (Bishop, 1999; Bossen et al, 2014; Colditz et al., 2000; Conn, 2010).

Chronic disease studies have focused on the physiological benefits encountered through PA interventions (Rhodes and Quinlan, 2014; Dunton et al., 2008).

Individual experiences of PA and cancer have been overlooked alongside the individual’s experience within the intervention and their chronic disease journey (Rhodes and Quinlan, 2014).
