Abstract

This paper discusses a participatory action design research project to develop an inclusively curated and designed exhibition that prioritises intellectual access for visitors with a broad spectrum of sight loss, including blind people. This paper focuses upon the multi-sensory desks, which were a core component of the exhibition and how visitors (including sighted visitors) responded to these desks and the whole inclusive exhibition design.

This research was funded by the Arts Council England, The Big Lottery DRILL, and the National Centre for Craft & Design.

This conference was co-hosted by Aalto University and the University of Kansas.
