Abstract

This chapter is written primarily for trainee teachers at undergraduate or postgraduate level who are working towards qualified teacher status. The chapter focuses on the challenges that primary school teachers sometimes face when working with children who are identified as being vulnerable. It identifies strategies that may be used to help teachers to support children and to be aware of the potential issues that may result in these children being vulnerable or at risk. A range of critical thinking and extended thinking activities are provided.
