Abstract
This chapter is written primarily for trainee teachers at undergraduate or postgraduate level who are working towards qualified teacher status. The chapter focuses on the challenges that primary school teachers sometimes face when working with parents of children who are identified as having special educational needs and disabilities. It identifies strategies that may be used to help teachers to support children and their parents. A range of critical thinking and extended thinking activities are provided.
