Abstract
The issues related to migration crisis in the EU and its neighbouring countries have become one of the most popular themes for policy makers, researchers and practitioners due to growing statistics figures of general migration population in seeking the better life for their families (open borders), due to substantial evidence of problems among second generation of migrants (children and young people who were born in the host country within immigrant family) and due to severe adversities due to war and poverty (e.g. 90 000 unaccompanied children from Middle East and Africa sought asylum in Europe in 2015). However as the reality pressures are rising the systematic literature review indicates many gaps in research, with particular focus on methods in research with migrant children and young people. This plenary presentation was devoted to the methodological principles one needs to be mindful of when designing and implementing research with migrant children and young people. Additional emphasis was made on communication principles with migrant children and young people as the author paid particular attention to partnership building and empowerment of children and young people and illustrated these with examples from personal practice.
