Abstract

This chapter seeks to examine the influence of political, economic and social change on municipal decision-making in the mature resort. Specifically, it seeks to identify the kind of local policy likely to be associated with a particular political circumstance, and to examine the extent to which such a circumstance can be expected to lead to a specific kind of tourism policy and planning. Patterns of economic dependency and economic interest, and the way these feed into local politicals, is a key theme.
