Abstract
Clinical Academics are key to furthering clinical practice
through contribution to care and service provision. In response to the
research workforce strategy (DH 2012) the pathway for clinical
academics gained impetus and opportunities for developing research skills have increased.
In 2013 Health Education East Midlands (HEEM) commissioned UoL to
develop a programme to support pre-PhD Clinical Academic Careers
(the Silver Scholar Award). The aim was to complement the existing the Bronze Award, thus adding to the range of opportunities for clinicians wishing to pursue research active clinical careers. Lincoln University has now also been commissioned to run the Bronze programme from November 2016.
