Abstract
EXPO 2000 in Hanover will be organised under the motto of sustainability and ecology. However, some researchers and urban planners ask themselves whether it is in fact an environmentally friendly festival. A closer look at the development introduced before EXPO could suggest that ecology is not really taken seriously: tree cutting, construction of new motorways, construction of buildings with short life span etc.
