Abstract
This review of trends in education suggests that several 'initiatives' in fact depend on 'old' ideas. Case studies of schools reveal, for example, a potential for curriculum to revert to a more integrated approach in the primary sector. At the secondary level, KS3 curriclum may be shortened and made more focused. Teachers may have to re-disover the skills of designing their own courses and lessons rather than relying on the internet.
