Abstract
The fact that nilpotent groups are close to being commutative means that it is possible to apply linear methods to their study. In this volume, based on a special course given by the author at Novosibirsk University, Russia in 1988-1990, linear methods in the theory of nilpotent groups are applied to the study of automorphisms of nilpotent groups.
