Sound file of BBC Radio Lincolnshire coverage of 'Leaving Home', recorded and broadcast live on 3rd August, 2014. The third strand of Leaving Home, this event was a fully staged performance which took place in the hamlet of Friesthorpe, Lincolnshire, and told the story of the Beechey family in the hamlet they lived in from 1890 to 1912. Moving through the lanes, fields and Church of St Peter it told the story of the prewar family and the departure of its eight sons, and the return of the three survivors. Accompanied by The Band of The Royal Anglian Regiment, RAF College Cranwell Military Wives Choir and Scunthorpe and District Pipe Band it also featured a battle sequence involving an Airco DH2 biplane. This three hour unedited sequence features pre-performance interviews with main partners and commentary by Rod Whiting and Carla George. It ends with a short service of rededication of the Bells of the Church of St Peter, which was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and formed an integral strand of the process.
