Abstract

The work in this solo exhibition consisted of 10 collages varying in scale from 21cm X 21cm to 50cm X 50cm. The work aspires to a visual critique of consumer culture that encourages a consideration of the manipulative effects of sales techniques, whilst also celebrating the richness of mass-produced mainstream print media. It is an intended reflection upon media saturation while also paying homage to a collective sense of nostalgia and social history. The complexity of the relationship between consumption and individuality is highlighted through subliminal signs and messages hidden in the images. The exhibition was accompanied by a lecture by the artist. Elements of this exhibition were subsequently exhibited in Holland and the UK. Catalogue - ISBN 1: 0-9549958-7-2
