Abstract

On line there are no walls, no doors, no boundaries, nowhere to hide. How safe are you? This 40 minute workshop investigates danger and safety in online environments. Text messages, social media statuses, emails, photographs and video are all ways in which online abuse hurts its vulnerable victims, sometimes with fatal consequences. This session will invite participants to look at the nature and consequences of digital dangers and how to stay safe in online environments. We will explore selected examples of digital danger including cyber bullying, cyberstalking, and the use of false identities online .
