Abstract

As part of an integral aspect of his ongoing visual research and in collaboration with his agents Meiklejohn Illustration, Peacock researches, prototypes and develops new experimental free standing images for a wide variety of international collaboration. This includes street-level dissemination media such as poster, print, limited edition print, stickers, greetings cards, jigsaw puzzles, calendars, lunch boxes, stationery etc. His work has been used by leading publishers (including Scandecor, Wizard and Genius, Athena) world wide and has been constantly circulated in the public domain for many years. The image ‘Dragon Girl’ was formulated to develop on the appeal of fantasy specifically to young teenagers. The researched image is a mixture of arcane and futuristic, it is in an unknown place and time. The girl is a strong prototype warrior, comfortably in control of complex weaponry and the exotic creature she rides astride, and designed to meet audience aspirations for a strong, rather than gender-focused female role model in the field. The background is developed in a generic, utopian manner in order to facilitate self-identification and transferral in the intended audience. It has been a very successful image, applied to a whole range of products and is in print and available in many territories including North America, Western Europe, Armenia, Byelorussia, Kazakhstan.
