Abstract
Prints was an exhibition that was promoted as 'Masters from the Arts Council Collection, Hayward Gallery, London with work from a new generation of printmakers'. The exhibition was held at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth. It included work by thirteen artists, most notably Richard Hamilton, David Hockney and R.B Kitaj. All works explored ideas within traditional and contemporary print mediums. The research undertaken for this exhibition focused on the combination of traditional print processes with digital output. The work explored ideas of conflict, both through content and form. The outcome of the research combined etching, silkscreen and digital printing and culminated in two large-scale prints. As a result of this exhibition Oran was asked to contribute to an exhibition entitled ‘New News from Nowhere’ exploring the Print work of William Morris at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow. This show was curated by Mark Hampson, one of the contributing artists in the Masters of the Arts Council Collection exhibition. To accompany ‘New News from Nowhere' there was a 78 page publication of the same title that Oran was asked to co-design and contribute to, containing the work of Grenville Davey, Bob & Roberta Smith and Rebecca de Quinn amongst others. ISBN 1-905-000-22-7.
