Abstract

Clive McCarthy was an invited speaker to AIGA national (USA) design education conference 2005. "Revolution: Philadelphia" June 3 2005. This was a national international event for design educators, the conference included main stage speakers, discussion sessions, and paper presentations selected from submitted abstracts through peer-review process. Revolution: Philadelphia explored the struggle and shifts taking place in design education today. Some are revolutionary, proposing an overhaul and profound change to the ways we think about design education. Some are smaller, more intimate, human-scaled revolutions. Have you changed what you teach? Have you changed how you teach? Have you changed why you teach?". McCarthy shared the stage with such design luminaries as Hillman Curtis, Kimberly Elam, Ellen Lupton and Steven Heller. As a result he has been invited to speak at several other American institutions.
