Abstract
The article discusses various aspects of today's sustainable architecture. The green path before us is still neither cleared nor broad enough. It stretches from the very sophisticated buildings, such as the Eden Project, for which Nicolas Grimshaw received an award in March 2010, to small designs such as Goethean Science Building in Pishwanton, designed by Christopher Day. We are living at an interesting moment in the history of green architecture, which is also very dangerous.
The bigger the idea, the bigger the responsibility. Unfortunately, great pressure to design new sustainable architecture pushes many architects in uncharted water of experimentation. While usually experiments are a very advisable attitude for designers, there is also a threshold – too many untested experiments in one building could be a source of disappointment, which may put many people off green architecture.
