Abstract
This chapter undertakes an examination of the place of suffering in the ethical thinking of Nietzsche and Levinas, in particular it reflects on several formal similarities (at least) in their respective philosophies of disindividuation, whilst examining the difference between their understanding of the relationship between ethics and politics.
