Abstract
A 50 minute Radio Drama tracing the stories of Amy, Edie and Barnard Beechey as they prepare for the First World War and the changes it brings to their lives. Broadcast on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, 4th August, 2014.
Additional Information: | Leaving Home was a three part investigation of the impact of the outbreak of the First World War on the Beechey Family (Friesthorpe and Lincoln), which lost five of its eight sons to the war. The three separate outputs were the Radio Drama, a Concert Performance in the Lincoln Arboretum (26th July, 2014) and at Friesthorpe (3rd and 4th August, 2014). All three were recorded for Radio, and the Friesthorpe performances were also filmed by the B.B.C. and are being edited for transmission. Leaving Home forms part of an ongoing investigation into the role of performance in commemoration |
