Abstract

This chapter sets up a dialectic between thesis (the well made play) and antithesis (revolutionary theatre like Ubu, Saved, Blasted), and suggests that the real revolution is in the absorption of counter cultural ideas into the mainstream. Focuses on Alan Ayckbourn.
