Abstract

Fu Bingchang was the last ambassador General Jiang Jieshi sent to Soviet Russia, and he was stationed in Moscow from 1943 to early 1949. Whilst in Moscow, Fu assiduously recorded the details of his operational dealings as a full and active participant of the diplomatic corps on the very doorsteps of the Kremlin. Relying heavily on material extracted from Ambassador Fu’s records, what follows is an analysis of Fu’s role in the day-to-day running operations of his embassy.
